SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — Nine people between the ages of 8 and 86 were injured in a three-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon near an intersection on US Highway 2 in Monroe, according to KOMO News.

The accident happened where the highway meets Sofie Road at around 3:25 p.m.

Washington State Patrol troopers said a Toyota turning left onto Highway 2 from northbound Sofie Road did not yield to traffic, causing a pickup truck to hit it. The Toyota stopped in the roadway while the pickup truck veered into eastbound traffic where it collided head-on with a Honda. The pickup truck stopped on the shoulder of the highway as the Honda turned over on its side.

Nine people from the three vehicles sustained injuries ranging from minor to very serious. Seven people had to be transported to a nearby hospital while two people were treated on scene. The conditions of the victims have not been released.

Troopers said criminal charges likely won’t be pursued, but the driver of the causing vehicle will most likely be given a ticket for failure to yield.
