News: Driver seriously injured after two-car crash on SR-7 in Parkland

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — One person was hospitalized early Monday morning after a two-vehicle accident on State Route 7 near Parkland, according to Trooper Robert Reyer with Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred at the 121st Street South intersection and was first reported by WSP at 6:28 a.m.

Details are limited at this time, but one driver was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

It is unclear whether the other driver sustained any injuries.

SR-7 was initially closed in both directions following the crash, but by 6:37 a.m., southbound lanes were reopened. Northbound lanes remained closed at the intersection, but was being diverted onto 119th Street South.

Motorists were encouraged to detour around the area to avoid delays.

By 8:49 a.m., the scene had been cleared and all lanes were reported reopened.
