The latest idea is to make some changes to the licensing laws for younger drivers.
Change to requirements
The proposed requirement mandates that all drivers under the age of 24 must pass a driver’s education course before obtaining a license. Currently, 16 and 17-year-olds must take such a course, but there is no requirement for first-time drivers over the age of 18. The Washington State Legislature has tasked the Department of Licensing with developing a plan for this new requirement, with the goal of implementation by 2026.
Reasons for the change
