KING COUNTY, WA — Two people were hurt, one critically, early Monday due to a two-vehicle crash on State Route 599 near Tukwila’s Allentown area, reports KOMO News.

The accident happened on the northbound side of SR-599, just north of Interurban Avenue. It was first reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) some time after 3:00 a.m.

According to the Washington State Patrol, one vehicle was heading southbound on the highway when, for reasons still unclear, it veered into the opposing lanes and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle.

First responders rushed both drivers to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center where the causing driver was listed in critical condition.

Part of northbound SR-599, along with the Interurban Avenue entrance ramp, was shut down for about five hours but was reopened to the public by 8:00 a.m.
